Once upon a time, there was lights out and bedtime. At that point, I would sit on the floor, huddled in a blanket, and continue reading my book in the low wattage glow of my nightlight. This is probably why I am horribly nearsighted.

I'm all grown up, which means if I start a good book, I'm going to finish it before I put it down. Sometimes it isn't wise to spend five hours this way; not when there's things to be done, things like eating or working. But there's no lights out, and these are the decisions we make.

I finished a new book and I have some things to work out in my life. So maybe being awake at 3 a.m. is worth it.
